The new standard

Sustainablity

is that easy!

WE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

Material change for simple sustainability!

The plastics industry is facing a change and needs new solutions today to conserve natural resources and protect the climate

We take responsibility - also for future generations and make protective elements made of recycled plastic the new standard with immediate effect. Since the end of September, we are gradually converting our standard range to our sustainable alternative made from post-cosumer recycled plastic and expanding it for our customers with a further 1,900 articles in yellow, blue and many other colours.

What sustainable plastic is, what the changeover means exactly and how you can benefit from the changeover, we answer you here.

PCR-PE, BLUE

100 % Post-

consumer-recyclate

contains our most sustainable protective elements, which thus also conserve up to 100% natural resources and can be completely returned to the material cycle after use. Since 2020, we have been allowed to award our articles with such a high PCR content the Blue Angel environmental label.

The
recycling blend

is a mixture of predominantly post-consumer recyclate (PCR) and virgin material, which means that the protective elements have a significantly lower CO2 impact compared to the variant made of virgin material. Due to the share of virgin material, we can produce the articles in different, familiar colours despite the high degree of sustainability.

Complete switch to recycling protection solutions

"The decisive factor for us was that the protective solutions from PCR provide the usual high Pöppelmann quality. We thoroughly tested whether the recycled protective elements offered the same reliable protection to the plugs or contacts of our electronic components as articles made from virgin material. We were able to convince ourselves that the recycled articles fulfil all these requirements very well. Pöppelmann KAPSTO® supported us as usual with uncomplicated and, above all, constructive service, so that we quickly arrived at solutions that met our requirements."

Recycling protective elements for hydraulic pumps

"When Pöppelmann KAPSTO® presented the resource-saving protective elements to us, we were immediately convinced by the concept. After all, the products are intended for single use in our company and so we also asked ourselves how we could achieve more sustainability here. So far, we use nine different protective elements made of recycled material. The product properties, which do not differ from articles made of virgin material, have convinced us."

RESOURCE CONSERVATION

The future belongs to the circular economy.

Recyclate production.

Used plastic products that have gone through a life cycle, such as our caps and stoppers, are processed into recyclate.

Production.

The recyclate produced is used for the production of new caps and stoppers.

Use.

The recycled plastic caps and plugs are then used to protect components.

Recycling.

After use, the articles can be disposed of via an external service provider or directly via Pöppelmann.

Sorting.

The caps and plugs are then sorted by plastic type and can be used again for the production of recyclate.

Sustainability all along the line.

In order to protect the climate and resources, we not only produce resource-saving protective elements, but we are also focusing more and more on sustainable alternatives throughout the company and especially in our supply chain.

From procurement ...

Already at the procurement stage, we rely on recyclates made from recycled plastic, which are thus added back to the cycle. Here we benefit from years of experience from our own compounding and can thus have a positive influence on the quality of the post-consumer recyclate. The procurement process is accompanied by our quality assurance, for example in the incoming goods inspection.

... about production ...

Since the introduction of our environmental management system in 1996, we have steadily improved our energy efficiency in particular through focused energy monitoring, the introduction of heat recovery systems and the procurement of energy-efficient machines. Since 2021, we have been relying on a high proportion of green electricity in our energy mix for our production, thus significantly reducing our CO2 footprint once again. In addition, leaner production processes have been integrated, which fundamentally reduce our reject rate and ensure more effective material utilisation through recycling mills directly at the machine.

... up to the point of being recycled again.

All PCR items we produce are fully recyclable. For this, you can simply approach a recycling company from your region or us and thus close the material cycle. Through this proven process, we not only simply reduce your company's CO2 footprint, but also sustainably conserve natural resources and protect the climate.
