As a rule, all catalogue items currently made of PE-LD are affected. You will receive an order confirmation for every order – for items made from 100 % post-consumer recyclate, the item description includes the addition “PCR-PE”, for items made from the recycling mixture “PCR-PE / PE-LD”. 

First and foremost, we contribute together to conserving resources and protecting the climate. You receive our protective elements in the usual Pöppelmann quality, but more sustainable than before. In this way, you can contribute to more resource conservation, waste avoidance and climate protection without much effort, and thus fulfil the corresponding requirements from the industry for recycling management, recycled material content and climate protection! OEMs are already demanding the use of PCR-PE. In addition, this can contribute to your own sustainability goals. In the near future, we also expect EU and national legislation regarding recycling quota requirements. You would then already have fulfilled these requirements for the products in question.

The recycled plastic PCR-PE is a recyclate. It is obtained by recycling used plastic products that have already gone through a complete product life cycle. The recycling mixture for coloured catalogue parts consists mainly of PCR-PE and PE-LD virgin material. Here, the PE-LD virgin material is obtained from fossil raw materials. This mixture can also be described with the English word “blend”. Our 100 % post-consumer recyclate consists entirely of recycled material and thus also conserves up to 100 % natural resources.

All coloured catalogue parts made of PE-LD (e. g. yellow, green, red, black) are converted to a recycled mixture of PCR-PE and PE-LD and are always produced in the same basic colour as the new material, so that there are no or only slight deviations in the colour shade.  Natural-coloured catalogue parts made of PE-LD are converted to a PCR-PE (post-consumer recyclate, polyethylene) and to the colour blue. This colour corresponds approximately to the RAL colour traffic blue. 

After use, the used protective elements should be disposed of properly. This can be done, for example, via a local recycling company. We would also be happy to discuss with you the possibility of returning them to Pöppelmann.  In many cases, we can create a closed material cycle together and save important resources.

Blue offers a much better appearance with the PCR materials used compared to natural. Catalogue parts in natural-coloured recycled PCR plastic would be comparatively dark and not or much less translucent than catalogue parts made of virgin material. We also decided on the colour blue in order to create a high recognition value for the protective elements made of 100 % post-consumer recycled material, awarded with the Blue Angel, and to deliberately differentiate them from more common colours such as yellow, red or natural. Furthermore, the colour blue for protective elements made of PE-LD is now even required by some car manufacturers as a standard colour to enable clear sorting by colour and thus better recycling. 

Initially, the changeover will only affect catalogue parts made of PE-LD material. However, on request, you can also convert catalogue parts made of PE-HD to a PCR material. In principle, it is also possible to convert customer-specific special parts to a PCR. So if you would like to convert catalogue parts that are not made of PE-LD or special parts, please contact us. We will then check what is possible. We are also working on developing sustainable variants for other materials and thus conserving even more resources.
